So, your custom domain is not working without prefixing ‘www’ and you are getting error messsage ‘Error 404, requested URL not found on server’ that’s why you have landed here. Many newbie Bloggers are facing the same issue with their blogs, this simply means that there is a problem with their blog redirection or we can say that their naked domain such as is not redirected to There are hundreds of solutions available over internet but you don’t have to mess up with them as Blogger provides this redirection option itself. If you try to change your Blog Address under publishing tab, Blogger wouldn’t accept it and gives you a message that ‘Blogs may not be hosted at naked domains (ex: Please add a top-level domain ( or subdomain (’. Many newbie’s try this also, but ignores the basic redirection option below it.

This tutorial will work only if you have added your custom domain correctly, I have written a post earlier on ‘Adding custom domain to blogger, go through it once to check if you have added it correctly.

How To Make your custom domain work with or without ‘www’

      (1)   Go to your blog’s dashboard.

      (2)   Click on ‘Settings’ and then ‘Basic’.

      (3)   Go to ‘Blog Address’ under ‘Publishing’ and then click on ‘Edit’.

 (4)   Under ‘Advanced settings’, check if you have selected the redirection option which says ‘Redirect to’. Select it if you have not.

(5)   Click on ‘Save’ and you are done.

Many of us forgot to select this option after adding custom domain and that’s the main reason why our naked domain didn’t work or get redirected to ‘’. Do let us know how many of you forgot to select this option.
